Q. Why should I choose ITG, there are many other studios around?
A very fair question, and you should look at your options and find the right studio to suit you, your music and your budget.
Each year studios start up in our area and each year many of them close down. 3 years later and ITG is still very much succeeding where others have tried and failed. Some of the reasons are perhaps as follows:-
1) We built and own our own premises. It's small but it's purpose built with a room within a room structure. Many start-up studios rely on sharing another business's premises and so are tied into their success/failure. 2) We operate as a business - we did our market research up-front and understand our customer base. 3) We strive at all times to give the client what they want. This is the golden rule and we continue to work hard and get better at it everyday. 4) We invested and continue to invest in very high quality fully professional equipment.
Beware of studios that make bold statements such as "XXX's Premier Studio" when in fact they are actually operating with home recording equipment in premises which are not equipped for the job.
Ask 1. How long have you been trading? 2. Do the Local Planning Authority know of your business? 3. What digital audio interface are you using? Make/Model 4. What is your main vocal microphone of choice? (Look these up, and get a feel for the real investment value of the studio facilities.) 5.Talk to the studio producer and ask yourself, can I "connect" with this person? We find the biggest part of the job is being able to bring the best out in the artist.
Q. How long do I need in the studio? The answer depends on what you looking to do, your level of experience and how well prepared you are. We
generally take bookings for a minimum of half a day. This is because we want to guarantee
a
high standard of work going out of the studio. As a solo singer, singing to backing
tracks a half day is often feasible and a track per hour gives you
time to have several takes and mix down the best combination of them
all. If you are a band looking to record an
EP, we would normally recommend a couple of days. To get a good drum
sound takes a few hours as does mixing / mastering. It can be done
quicker but never less than a day if you want to benefit from a
quality studio such as ITG.
Q. Can I bring friends / family to
watch?
The studio can take up 6 people.
Friends can come along in there's space but must understand the need to be quite at
times and not interfere with the process. This is in your interest.
Just let us know in advance.
Q. Can I take photo's?
Yes of course.
Q. Do I need copyright / permission
to record and duplicate cover songs? In most cases yes, ask us in advance.
Often a PRS/MCPS Limited Manufacture License will cover this for a
small fee.
Q. Do you have samples I can listen
to? Yes we do - fill in the contact form
and we can send you a CD.
Q. Can I visit the studio? If you are seriously looking to book at
least 1 day in the studio visits are welcome if arranged in advance.
Just get in touch to fix a date/time.
Q. Do you have a job vacancies? Not at the moment - keep checking the
site though.
